June 2026 Rheumatology Events

Lupus & You Washington DC Lupus Empowerment Conference Date: Saturday, June 13, 2026, 8:30am-12:30pm Location: Georgetown University Hospital, Goldberg Auditorium, Washington DC This is an in-person event which “…celebrates, inspires, supports, and uplifts lupus warriors, care partners, family, and friends. The event is designed to empower attendees through expert-led sessions that will help them better navigate a life with lupus and make meaningful connections with other attendees that will last far beyond the day’s event.”
Georgetown Clinical Trials:
  • Car-T cell therapy and CAR NK study for systemic sclerosis, refractory SLE and lupus nephritis
  • Phase 3 Nipocalimab Trial for Non-Renal SLE (anticipated Fall 2026 enrollment)
  • CONQUEST Trial (SSc-ILD): This trial is evaluating a novel therapy for systemic sclerosis–associated interstitial lung disease on background mycophenolate is still open and enrolling through the summer.
  • Phase 3 Antifibrotic Therapy Trial (anticipated Fall 2026 enrollment): A novel antifibrotic agent for patients with either diffuse cutaneous disease or interstitial lung disease (including limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis).
  • Raynaud’s Phenomenon Trial (October enrollment): We also have a new trial evaluating an inhaled formulation of treprostinil, a prostacyclin analogue, for the treatment of Raynaud’s phenomenon in systemic sclerosis (need about 3 Raynaud’s episodes daily)

Recruitment is open for FAST for DM! (Fatty Acid Supplementation Trial for Dermatomyositis)
This is a study for patients with mild to moderate DM or JDM at the NIH/NIEHS conducted by Drs. Lisa Rider and Adam Schiffenbauer.

Opportunity for Physicians to Participate in Lupus Research Program with NMQF

The National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF) invites community-serving rheumatologists and lupus specialists in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia to apply for a unique grant-funded program from the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health (HHS OMH). This initiative is designed to increase minority participation in lupus clinical trials by training community clinicians as Principal Investigators (PIs).

Participating physicians will receive comprehensive training in clinical research best practices, along with financial and logistical support to reduce the demands of research. By equipping underrepresented community clinicians with essential resources, we aim to expand diverse participation in lupus trials and improve community access to these vital studies.
